Did you guess right?
I live smack dab in the center of Illinois. Pride of the Prairie they call us. Home of Krekel burgers, Monicals Pizza and LaGondala. Those of you from central Illinois know exactly what I'm talking about ;) We don't fix grilled cheese here. We fix "cheese toasties."
We are also known as Supermarket to the World. Why???? Well, no matter where you travel in Illinois, I guarantee you will see many fields full of soybeans and corn.
You will also find many apple orchards, one of them being just a few miles from our home, and strawberry patches.
In the small town I live, we are within 15 minutes of an Amish Community.
They have the best bakes goods I have ever eaten. Their bread, cinnamon rolls and peanut butter are just simply mouth watering. Most of the baking supplies (sprinkles, sanding sugars and spices) I get are purchased right at their local grocery store. Powered by propane and skylights I might add.
Travel north 2 1/2 hours and we have...........
There is nothing like traveling to the "Big" city when you are from a small town. Pretty overwhelming. But Chicago is great!! My husband and I had the opportunity several years ago to stay at the Trump Towers. AWESOME!!!! Our brother in law (Chicago native) gave us the tour of our lives while there. We have even been lucky enough to take in a few shows on some of our visits. We've seen anything from Grease to Jersey Boys (my favorite). Shopping???? OMG!!!! I need to say no more. If your ever in Chicago, The Magnificent Mile is a must!! Shopping that runs along a portion of Michigan Avenue extending from the Chicago River to Oak Street. Museums.......Navy Pier.....and I guess, if you are a Chicago Cubs fan, you have that also (sorry Illinois, I'm ALL Cardinals).
